Smoking or vaping marijuana is linked to a significantly higher risk of heart attack and stroke, even if a person had no existing heart conditions and did not smoke or vape tobacco, a new study found.

According to an expert, marijuana is just as harmful as smoking tobacco cigarettes.

With the rise of marijuana legalization in various parts of the country, there is a growing concern among experts about the covert consequences of consuming it through smoking.

A recent study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association suggests that regular use of marijuana may lead to potential issues with cardiac health.  The research was published Wednesday in the Journal of the American Heart Association.

A team of researchers from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) conducted a study using CDC data from 434,104 participants to explore the potential link between cannabis usage and cardiovascular events.

According to a recent study, the use of marijuana has been linked to a higher risk of asthma in young individuals, raising concerns about potential health implications.

The comparison between the effects of cannabis use on the likelihood of developing coronary heart disease, acute myocardial infarction, and stroke was conducted among the general adult population and individuals who did not have a history of tobacco smoking.

Out of the participants who were surveyed, approximately 4% reported being daily consumers of cannabis, while 7.1% stated that they only used it occasionally. The remaining 88.9% confirmed that they had not consumed marijuana within the last 30 days.

Research published in the Journal of the American Heart Association has found that regular consumption of marijuana can lead to potential issues for heart health. This study highlights the importance of being cautious about the impact of daily weed smoking on the heart.

According to the study, individuals who use cannabis on a daily basis have a 25% higher chance of experiencing a heart attack and a 42% higher chance of suffering from a stroke. There is a correlation between cannabis usage and negative cardiovascular results. They found that the frequency of usage (measured in days per month) is directly related to the likelihood of experiencing adverse outcomes.

Experts are issuing a warning. There is a misconception that marijuana is safe. However, this is not the case. Their research has shown that consuming marijuana, primarily through smoking, has similar negative effects as smoking tobacco cigarettes.

Analysis is finding there is a correlation between cannabis usage and negative cardiovascular results. They also found that increased usage (measured by the number of days per month) is linked to a higher likelihood of experiencing adverse outcomes.
Experts are encouraging individuals to be open and honest about their marijuana consumption when communicating with their healthcare professionals.  It is particularly crucial in cases where a person has an existing heart problem or has encountered a cardiovascular incident while consuming cannabis products.

The study found that the majority of participants were in relatively good health.

The most significant group of people who smoke weed daily are between the ages of 18 and 34 years old.

An expert is also debunking the myth that in states where smoking weed is legal, it is often believed since it is a natural substance, it is automatically safe. Cannabinoids have psychotropic effects which can alter perception and mental state. These effects are similar to those of prescription medications that also have psychotropic properties, and therefore, they can have potential side effects.

With the new findings, there is an importance of informing the public about the possible occurrence of cardiovascular events and the need for individuals to carefully consider their decision. The important takeaway from this study is there is a concern that smoking marijuana may lead to a repetition of the hazards associated with smoking cigarettes.

On a side note, the safety of other methods of consuming cannabis, such as edibles, was not the main focus of this study. Experts warn that there is a lack of sufficient data on the safety of these products. It is crucial for individuals who utilize medical marijuana with the guidance of a doctor to carefully consider both the advantages and disadvantages in the use of any form of cannabis.

In a response to the findings, The National Cannabis Industry Association stated that cannabis use may not be entirely harmless, but numerous reports, indicate that it is unquestionably safer than alcohol.
