Youth for Troops: Collecting Items to Send to U.S. Troops

July 12, 2018

Previously, many young men and women in Arizona used to spend their summers engaging in activities that are detrimental to their wellbeing. To avoid this, the Youth for Troops volunteer program was established to bring the youth together with the objective of collecting items that are thereafter sent to U.S. troops serving various missions across the world.

Youth for Troops is the brainchild of six teenagers from Arizona who sought to stir patriotism among fellow youths. The program brings together youth who are passionate about serving their country, its servicemen, and veterans. Volunteers collect donations from local community members including food and hygiene items. Thereafter, the items are sent alongside care packages to U.S. servicemen across the globe.

The initiative not only benefits members of the military and veterans but also ensures that Arizona youth engage in meaningful activities during their summer holidays. By keeping their minds engaged, those who volunteer are less likely to take part in unnecessary activities. Youth for Troops seeks to encourage young members of the society to support servicemen by raising awareness about their needs whenever they are serving in different missions.

Youth for Troops also provides volunteers to serve at local veteran and military events. Such service includes holding flags during the Honor Guard, distribution of flags during national holidays, handing out items during events, and even the provision of event information. The program also seeks to help in the reintegration of veterans into the society by supporting them through various local events.
