The Arizona Department of Transportation announced a travel advisory for August 4-7 in the Phoenix area, with the restriction including a blockage on westbound I-10 at 59th Avenue.

That section of the freeway will be closed from Friday at 10:00 p.m. to Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for bridge construction at the South Mountain Freeway. The westbound I-10 on-ramps at 43rd and 51st avenues also be shut down during this time. During the shut down, construction crews will be pouring a concrete structure over the I-10 for a ramp connection to the South Mountain Freeway. Expect heavy delays in the area.

In addition, the other planned ADOT weekend restrictions are:

-Westbound I-10 will narrow to one lane near 59th Avenue on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. to Monday at 5:00  a.m. for the same bridge construction.

-Northbound I-17 will narrow to two lanes between Bethany Home Road and Glendale Avenue on Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to noon for overhead message sign work.

-Southbound I-17 will narrow to two lanes near Indian School Road on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday for freeway lighting maintenance.
