University of Arizona Micro-Campuses

“Micro-campuses address global demand for higher education, opening doors for students unable to study in the United States while providing a synergistic hub for other forms of internationalization…” – University of Arizona

Most universities in the U.S run branch campuses around the world, but the idea of UA establishing a network of micro-campuses is the first of its kind.

Establishing these micro campuses across the world will put the University of Arizona at an advantage because not only will they be able to spread the name of the university but also influence different parts of the world with their education. However, for this to happen UA needs to partner with an international university and offer a dual-degree program. This will require a lot of coordinating and at least a few years of development before it can come to fruition.

So far, Arizona has opened their first micro-campus at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao and they’re second at the American University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia, both in the past couple years. Along with their current background in international outreach, they have plans to open 11 more micro-campuses all over the world. There is still a lot of work to be done to make this a reality, but the idea of opening micro-campuses is not unfamiliar territory for the University.
