This Summer’s “Hottest Race On Earth” In Scottsdale

The “hottest race on earth” will soon be taking place this June in Scottsdale. The event will be a third of the Scottsdale Fahrenheit Festival. The festival will also include an arm wrestling competition, as well as an ales & cocktails celebration, to cool off during the scorching hot Arizona heat.

WestWorld, a popular event facility in Scottsdale, will serve as the starting point for the race on June 16th. The race is expected to draw more summer attention, to Scottsdale, showcasing what the city has to offer during the hottest time of the year. For this reason, it’s fitting for the event to take place within a few days of this year’s summer solstice.

Event Includes Both Running And Walking Competitions

Several thousand dollars in prize money, is on the table for males and females who place anywhere from 1st to 5th in the race. The primary race will be approximately 10.22 kilometers and will begin at 2:47 p.m. for heightened heat exposure. A lighter, 5K walking competition will also be taking place.

The last hottest race on earth competition was in 2013. At that time, 1,300 contestants showed up. The event is in part meant to commemorate the hottest day Phoenix has ever seen, in June of 1990, when temperatures reached a searing 122 degrees.

Scottsdale’s Thriving Tourism

City officials are hoping that those who compete, will be drawn to some of the other prominent aspects regarding the city of Scottsdale. Scottsdale offers all kinds of outdoor activities, and landmarks worth seeing. Everything from recreational UTV (utility task vehicle) tours through the desert, to indoor skydiving can be enjoyed in Scottsdale. Those who don’t enjoy the heat, can always visit Scottsdale Fashion Square, which is Arizona’s largest mall.

Registration information can be found on the festival website.
