The APS Phoenix Light Parade Is Back

It’s that time of year again for the 2016 APS Phoenix Light Parade to captivate the streets of Phoenix. This year’s hallmark family event marks the 30th annual parade having first started in 1986.

The main event starts Saturday, December 3rd at 7 p.m. on Central Ave. & Montebello Ave. and runs to Central Ave. & Camelback Rd before heading East to 7th Street & Camelback Rd and making its final turn South to culminate the parade at 7th Street & Indian School Rd. An expected 100,000 spectators will be enjoying the annual spectacle event.

Though many know about the Light Parade itself, an almost secret event tonight, Friday the 2nd, is attending the Float Viewing and Judging from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at North Phoenix Baptist Church located at 5757 N Central Ave. The family can get an up close experience of this year’s glowing floats before the big event. In addition, Santa’s Village offers free admission for face painting, arts and crafts, games, and a photo with Santa for the kids.

Blankets, chairs, and hot cocoa are encouraged for the main event. The parade is expected to last about 45 minutes.
