Talking Stick Resort Set To Reopen September 24th

After an August monsoon storm knocked out power and damaged the generators at Talking Stick Resort, the resort is now set to reopen on September 24 after being closed for over a month.

According to a letter posted to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Facebook page, the chair of the board announced that Talking Stick would open at noon on Monday.

Heavy rain fall on August 11 forced the resort to evacuate patrons and guests, while the facility suffered severe weather damage.

The reopening had to be rescheduled several times due to delays in repairing the damage. The closing caused the cancelation of reservations and several events also had to be postponed.

“After the dedicated work of several staff and skilled contractors, the necessary repairs were made to restore the property’s electrical system and other areas,” the letter from Salt River Community Gaming Enterprises Board of Directors chair Crystal Banuelos. “We are very thankful for everyone’s support during a very busy time and offer our gratitude to the several hundreds of people who have helped in this effort.”

The resort’s fall concert series will open on Sunday, September 30 with The Life Tour featuring Boy George and Culture Club, the B’52s and Thomas Bailey of the Thompson twins.
