Suspicious Circumstances Noted Around Young Girl’s Disappearance

A 19-year-old girl who was known to reside in Phoenix has been missing since August 4th. Although the police have been investigating her disappearance intently, they have not found anything of significance.

A spokesman from the Phoenix Police Department, Sgt. Vince Lewis said that the circumstances around the girl’s disappearance appeared to be “suspicious.” The girl, Kiera Bergmen, was last seen at her house near 51st Avenue and Thunderbird Road on August 4th.

Details in the case that have been deemed important are those surrounding the missing girls 23-year-old boyfriend, Jon Clark. Clark was being questioned in relation to the disappearance on Friday. In the process of questioning Clark, the police found evidence of identity theft in his vehicle in the form of other people’s personal identification documents. They arrested him for identity theft and he was taken into custody on 22 counts of aggravated identity theft, as well as two counts of forgery. The police do not know if this could be any connection to Clark’s girlfriend’s disappearance, and have given no indication that it could connect him to Bergen’s missing person’s case.

Bergman grew up outside San Diego and just recently moved out of her family’s home to live in Phoenix with her then-boyfriend.

“She’s just a very happy, loving, very outgoing, very strong-minded girl,” Bergman’s mother, Kiersten Bragg said. Her family has relocated to the valley to help in the search for their daughter. They are relying on strength from each other — and from strangers in what they say is their worst nightmare.

Bergmen, 19, is five foot 3 inches, and weighs 145 pounds. If anyone has information about her disappearance, they are encouraged to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. Anyone that calls with information can remain anonymous.
