State Farm Stadium To Host 2019 Gold Cup Semifinal Match

In 2019, one of two Gold Cup semifinal matched will be played inside Glendale’s State Farm Stadium.

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, or CONCACAF, announced the semifinal schedule on Tuesday, with State Farm Stadium scheduled to host the match on July 2.

The second semifinal match will be held at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on July 3, while the championship match will take place on July 7 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Made up of national soccer teams from North America, South America and the Caribbean, the Gold Cup takes place every two years.

The United States has experienced success in the tournament, most recently taking home the Gold Cup in 2017 for its sixth championship.

Tuesday’s announcement also announced Gold Cup group pairings, with the U.S. seeded in Group D, while Mexico was placed in Group A. Costa Rica (Group B) and Honduras (Group C) round out the four teams that have already secured their Gold Cup spot.

The U.S. national team will play in St. Paul, Cleveland and Kansas City in the round-robin format of the event.

The remaining 12 teams will learn their group placements following the qualifying phase in March 2019.

The expanded 16-team tournament will kick off in June.
