The medical marijuana industry is personal for one Phoenix-area couple.
Todd Ramboli started using marijuana medically after he was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma, a kind of cancer, when he was 22. He found that it helped him control the pain and swelling he suffered from after receiving radiation treatment.
Now, he and his wife, Amanda Romboli, are working together based off his experiences to create a patient-first environment for medical marijuana patients. They opened DommLife as a one-stop shop for patients and a gathering place for those interested in learning more about medical marijuana.
The space has a salon and spa, shopping, a meeting space, yoga, coffee and organic meals. Marijuana is not sold on premises, but the couple also offer medical marijuana delivery through DOMM, or Delivery of Medical Marijuana, which they started more than a year ago.
The couple say the inspiration for DommLife came from similar spaces they noticed while traveling in Europe and Asia. They feel their space was a natural next step following medical marijuana’s legalization in Arizona in 2010 and hope to battle the social stigmas associated with it. They also want to offer a safe space for like-minded individuals and those curious about the industry.
DommLife is located in Phoenix on Thomas Road near 32nd Street. Membership requires a valid medical marijuana card, but members of the public can stop by for information on the services offered or on medical marijuana in general.
Medical marijuana has been legalized in 29 states and recreational marijuana in nine. More than 150,000 Arizonans have received medical marijuana cards since the treatment was legalized in 2010 with 50.1 percent of the vote.
