Renaissance Hotel in Tribute to Phoenix’s History

The rich history of Phoenix is being immortalized with a mural being created at the Renaissance Hotel. On Friday morning, work on the mural began under the guidelines of Downtown Phoenix, Inc.

The mural will be 70 feet high and 50 feet wide, fully encompassing the wall of the hotel. The wall can be seen in the alley that lies between First Street and Central Avenue.

This historic work of art is being dubbed “Malinda.” It portrays a character from Phoenix known as Malinda Curtis. She was known for her openness toward all of the city’s residents during the early 20th century. This particular alley is where Malinda Curtis lived.
