Positive Job Outlook for Arizona for the Next Two Years

We have good news if you’re looking for a new job: the amount of jobs in Arizona is increasing.

A projection by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity says the employment outlook in Arizona will grow by 150,000 jobs during the next two years. The outlook was released on Thursday by the department and U.S. Department of Labor.

According to the projection, jobs in the state will increase from 2,933,968 to 3,086,936 over two years, beginning in the third quarter of the 2017 fiscal year to the second quarter of the 2019 fiscal year. That’s an increase of 152,968 jobs!


In addition to the large influx of jobs in the next two years, Arizona jobs will also continue to grow at a rate of 2.6 percent every year.

The greatest amount of jobs are estimated to be in education and health services. These areas may receive an an addition of 39,779 jobs, which would be annual growth of 3.3 percent.

The other fields which will experience an increase in jobs are: professional and business services with 22,391 jobs, leisure and hospitality with 19,547 jobs, construction with 15,554 jobs, and transportation and utilities with 15,312 jobs.

Since 2015, there has already been an increase of 160,000 private sector jobs.

Governor Doug Ducey believes the positive job outlook to be major factor in Arizona’s economic growth. He credits the increase and the growing economy to the work of innovators and entrepreneurs.

“We are focused on making Arizona the best place in the country to launch a new idea, re-locate, or expand a business, and I am excited to see the continued positive developments to come,” says Ducey.
