Phoenix workers saw a 7.6 percent increase in average wages between June 2016 and July 2017 according to the U.S Bureau of Labor and Statistics.
“We’ve been laser focused on building a more innovation-driven economy that works for everyone, and we’re seeing great results,” Mayor Greg Stanton said. “This significant private-sector wage growth is being driven by advanced industries like technology, biosciences, healthcare, financial services, and precision man.”
Arizona’s unemployment rate dropped to 5 percent. In August, the state added 41,900 jobs last month. The average hourly wage went up nearly $2 an hour in the Phoenix Metro area in the past year. The national average is $26.36, the average in phoenix is now $26.75 per hour. Phoenix ranks 23rd in having highest overall in the country.
