American Airlines announced on Tuesday that a nonstop flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to London-Heathrow Airport will provided beginning in 2019.

With British Airways already providing an option from Phoenix to London, travelers will now have an alternative through American Airlines. 

“Today’s announcement is a reflection of the strength of the Phoenix economy, and one that only promises to make it stronger,” said Phoenix Mayor Thelda Williams.

As flights will become available for purchase on August 27, the service is scheduled to run from March 31, 2019 until October 26, 2019. 

American Airlines plans for the route to be flown on a Boeing 770-200 aircraft.
