The Arizona Department of Transportation announced State Route 51 and I-10 will be restricted starting Friday for improvement projects and valley drivers should expect delays if traveling in these areas. It is recommended that travlers consider alternative routes. The following construction plans for the weekend are:

  • Southbound SR 51 will be narrowed to two lanes between McDowell Road and the I-10 “Mini-Stack” interchange from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday for overhead sign work.
  • SR 51 on- and off-ramps at Bell Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday for pavement improvements. Bell Road right lanes will be closed in both directions.
  • Eastbound I-10 near 59th Avenue will be narrowed to one lane from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge construction at the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange. Eastbound I-10 will be closed briefly if needed.
