Developer Buys Mesa’s Fiesta Mall

Fiesta Mall in Mesa, Arizona is being sold to the development company Dimension Financial & Realty Investments Inc. (DFRI) to be turned into a facility with purposes including housing, recreation, dining and hosting medical courses. The new center will open in 2018 and most remaining stores in the mall will be closed.

The purpose of the remodeling is to help revitalize the portion of Fiesta district. Mayor John Giles says “Fiesta Mall is in the heart of the Fiesta District and I am excited to welcome DFRI to the team of developers working to revitalize one of Mesa’s greatest assets,” according to azcentral.com.

Retailers across the country have faced a downturn due to the advent of online shopping and Fiesta Mall has been no acceptation. Half of the retail spaces have closed. A few big-box retailers like Dillard’s and Macy’s will remain open because they are owned by separate realtors. The rest of the space will become the property of new development teams who wish to use it for the variety of purposes mentioned above. In addition to DFRI these include Cashen Realty Advisors, Mesa Fiesta Corporate Center and Mesa Economic Development.

Although Mesa, Arizona has become more vibrant over the years in terms of population and economic growth, the Fiesta Mall is undergoing a makeover to give the site a new purpose to consumers and have it accommodate the needs of medical students and colleges in the nearby area.

Mesa Mayor John Giles and Mesa Economic Development also have the project under heavy consideration and wish to see the direction it takes. The future of this former mall is vital to both the Fiesta District and Mesa as a whole.
