Desert Botanical Garden Spring Butterfly Exhibit

Surround yourself with butterflies of various species at the annual Desert Botanical Garden Spring Butterfly Exhibit.

Running from February 24 to May 13, enjoy the magical experience of painted ladies, zebra longwings and many more species. Every week, more than 400 butterflies are received from butterfly farms in Florida, Texas and Oklahoma.

This is a wonderful exhibit that has become a visitor favorite,” Elaine McGuinn, DBG director of exhibits, said. “Visitors can view all stages of a butterfly’s life and learn the story of the relationship between plants and insects.”

Guests can also learn about and view pupae in an emergence chamber, located in the caterpillar nursery, and watch them emerge as adult butterflies. The butterflies can be seen in the Butterfly Pavilion on the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Loop trail.
