Casa Anejo Now Open in North Central Phoenix

A new Mexican restaurant called Casa Añejo is coming to Phoenix. The restaurant is now open at the address 5602 N. 7th St. in The Colony shopping center. It will be found across from Stock & Stable.

The restaurant will provide a modern take on authentic Mexican food with a wood-fired slant. The menu includes typical mall plates like chicharrons or chorizo and papas. They also offer shared plates including green chili queso fondito spiced with Schreiner’s chorizo, a local Phoenix concoction.

The pride of the restaurant is its tacos, though. Casa Añejo serves more than a dozen varieties of tacos made on freshly made tortillas. Anything from carne asada to duck carnitas to grilled octopus to striped bass can be put in a taco made on the spot for every customer. These unique options make Casa Añejo different from any other local Mexican cuisine.

Casa Añejo will also feature a wide range of Mexican spirits and cocktails that have been developed by Riley Jones. Jones was the mixologist for Okra and The Parlor and will now be taking over for Casa Añejo’s alcoholic beverages.

The restaurant itself seats about 150 diners indoors and 50 more outside. A noticeable fixture of Casa Añejo’s design is the storefront windows placed in the wall between the kitchen and dining room. This allows guests to see the delicacies made right before them in the restaurant’s kitchen.

Customers also have the ability to get their hands on Casa Añejo’s offerings via a standalone “curbside kitchen.” This outdoor kiosk-like option can be used to purchase from a menu of select to-go tacos, Sonoran hotdogs, canned beer, and bottled sodas. Also on the menu is custom guacamole from the bar outside.
