Beer Down, Arizona: U of A Extending Beer And Wine Sales To General Public

More fans attending football games at Arizona Stadium will get the chance to enjoy beer and wine at football games during the upcoming season. Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke said, “In November, we placed an emphasis on efforts to engage with fans in order to gather feedback on how we can improve and provide the best game-day experience possible. This includes reviewing survey results, emails, social media, and face-to-face conversations. We’ve spent a lot of time listening. Having the ability to enjoy wine or a beer at the game was frequently mentioned in the feedback we received.”

Some other improvements that Arizona Athletics and the university have made to Arizona Stadium include more local food vendors, more score and stat updates on the scoreboard, reduced ticket pricing for some sections, several new concession areas and restrooms and expanded performances by the Pride of Arizona Marching Band.

UA fans that are of legal drinking age can start purchasing beer and wine at the opening football game against BYU on Sept. 1. Although there will be a limited number of concession stands offering alcohol, sales will begin 90 minutes before kickoff and conclude before the end of the third quarter.

Arizona Stadium joins a list of more than three dozen college football stadiums that sell beer including Arizona State University, University of Oregon, Oregon State University and Washington State University. Single game tickets and family four-packs are currently for sale online for the 2018-2019 football season.
