Attorney General Voices Concern Towards Race Event

The attorney general for Arizona is cautioning local runners against the possibility of fraud.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich issued a statement that 5K races dubbed “Skull Run,” “Dragons & Skull Run” or “Dragon, Zombies, Skull Run” could be scams intended to take people’s money without actually holding the promised events.

With the races scheduled to take place in Tucson, Chandler and Mesa in October, the upcoming events are being organized by the same group that sold tickets for the “Crab and Lobster Feast,” which was supposed to be Sept. 2 in Phoenix, but never took place. Those that purchased tickets for the event never received a refund for the money they spent.

Race tickets are being sold for $30.

“These races are being advertised as ‘fantasy race events,’ but what appears to be a fantasy is the idea that these races will ever occur,” said Brnovich, in the statement. “Consumers should beware of buying tickets for events from companies they’ve never heard of.”

The Attorney General’s Office is making an effort to bring an end to the false advertising related to such events and is issuing this advisory to ensure that additional Arizona consumers are not misled.  Those who have bought tickets to these races and feel they are victims of deceptions should file complaints with the Attorney General’s Office.
