Arizona’s Population has Topped 7 million, According to Census Bureau

In the past year, Arizona has gained over 107,600 new residents. According to a government estimate, this new addition of residents helps the state top the 7 million-population mark for the first time.

At a rate of 1.6 percent growth, Arizona has tied for the fifth-fastest growing state in America.  The U.S. Census Bureau tracked population changes from July 1, 2016 to July 1, 2017. Arizona’s increase of 107,600 residents was the seventh-biggest numeric change.

The fastest growing state, Idaho, saw an increase rate of 2.2 percent. Followed by Nevada, Utah, Washington, and then a tie between Arizona and Florida.

California is still the nation’s most populated state with 39.54 million residents.
