Arizona’s First White Castle Location Coming To Scottsdale

White Castle, the Ohio-based pioneer of small, square hamburgers is planting its first flag in Arizona next year.

It was announced on August 24 that the store will be in Scottsdale, marking the first company-owned restaurant west of the Mississippi River.

The closest White Castle to Arizona is in Las Vegas, but the location isn’t owned by the company.

“For years, cravers in Arizona have been asking us to feed their souls by bringing our delicious sliders to the state, and we’re happy to announce that we’re going to make this dream a reality,” said White Castle Vice President Jamie Richardson.

The inaugural Arizona location will be in The Block at Pima Center, a new Phoenix retail development that will be near Talking Stick Resort at Loop 101 and Via de Ventura.

White Castle also announced that 50 to 75 jobs will be created as a result of the store opening.

Founded in Wichita, Kansas in 1921, White Castle operates with nearly 400 locations across 13 states, most of which are open around the clock.

With the menu featuring breakfast and a variety of sliders, its specialty 2-by-2 inch hamburgers consisting of a steam-grilled beef patty with onions and pickle on a bun have created a cult-like following.

In 2014, Time magazine called the item “the most influential burger of all time.”

The company also expanded to a frozen option that has been available nationally at grocery stores for a number of years.
