Arizona has jumped three spots in the Chief Executive Magazine’s 13th Annual Best & Worst States for Business Survey. The Copper State came in at number 9.
The rankings are crafted by CEO perceptions as to what are the best and worst states for business based on a few key categories:
- Workforce
- Taxes and Regulation
- Best Communication of Business Incentives
- Workforce Quality
- Living Environment
- Major industry
- Healthcare
- Technology
- Pharmaceuticals
- Energy and Utilities
- Retail
- Financial Services
Arizona ranked so favorably due to higher ranks in living environment, taxes and regulation, and workforce quality. They also fared high in retail (#4), energy and utilities (#5), technology (#6), pharmaceuticals (#7), and healthcare (#9).
CEO of Chief Executive, Marshall Cooper stated, “The annual Best and Worst States Survey is a key component of Arizona’s ability to attract new jobs. The rankings capture current CEO perceptions of Arizona’s business climate, and are a good gauge of the state’s ability to attract and retain business investment in the future.”
The top five states that were ranked were:
- Texas
- Florida
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
- Indiana
