Arizona Shelters Offering Free Adoptions This Saturday

If you’ve been wanting to adopt a furry family member, Saturday may be your chance. A charity foundation, the BISSELL Pet Foundation, will be paying adoption fees at three animals shelters: Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, the Arizona Animal Welfare League, and the Arizona Humane Society. It’s been named the “Empty the Shelters” event, and it was created to empty animals shelters during hot months.

Over 600 animals were adopted during the first event on July 14.

The founder of the BISSELL Pet Foundation, Cathy Bissell, believes that summer months are the most important times to adopt.

“We are grateful that hundreds of pets found homes through Empty the Shelters on July 14, but there are hundreds more waiting. We are pleased to announce that we will be back in August to give even more pets a chance for a loving home,” says Bissell.

The foundation’s events have been helping to reduce the overpopulation of animal shelters. They have been credited for more than 12,000 adoptions since 2012.

“’Empty the Shelters’ saved so many lives. Not only did it clear up shelter space, but it also made room for new pets to have the opportunity for a second chance: Adoption.”
