Arizona Cardinals Sign Larry Fitzgerald to 1-Year Extension

The question of where Larry Fitzgerald will play next season has finally been answered. The Cardinals released a statement confirming that the long-time team staple signed a 1-year extension for 2018. Fitzgerald, 34, is a seasoned wide receiver who has made it to the Pro-Bowl 10 times, and is looking for another trip there this year. Though the Cardinals have a strict policy that will not disclose actual terms of contracts, it is clear that if he chooses to play for a 15th season in 2018, he will do so at the same club he has been at for the 14 seasons of his career.

Larry Fitzgerald was drafted in the first-round draft in the 2004 season to the Cardinals, and has made a home there. As #11 at wide receiver for Arizona, he has made it into the top ten of many of the NFL’s impressive all-time lists, including being in position to take second place in all time catches and in receiving yards should he stay healthy for the rest of the current season. He may have signed on for another year with the Cardinals, but that just guarantees him to stay in Arizona should he choose to play next year, as retirement has been batted around as a possibility. It is thought by many to be unlikely he will retire if he feels he has anything left in him, especially if the Cardinals fail to get a Superbowl Ring this year. They went to the big game in 2009, but left without a win. Fitzgerald has been vocal about wanting a ring to top off what has been a great career.
