Apple Releases New iPhones: Revolutionizing Tech Industry Yet Again

After months of speculation, Wednesday Apple revealed the details of the new iPhones. iPhone Xs Max, its largest iPhone ever, and is considered the top-of-the-line.

“Today, we’re going to take iPhone X to the next level,” CEO Tim Cook said during the presentation. 

They also announced a new Apple Watch. Apple introduced several new models: iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR.


These models were introduced at the annual Apple release event in Cupertino, California, headquarters of the world’s most valuable company. Apple says that the large screen OLED model XS Max will start at $1,100 , the upgrade version of the OLED iPhone X would start again at $1,00 and the LCD-screen iPhone XR will start at $749.

While there weren’t many surprises from Apple at their recent event, the company’s pricing strategy has become a topic of debate. Many analysts think that the high-end phones will help boost Apple’s average selling prices by catering to consumers who need a larger screen size and don’t view price as an obstacle. However, the company did not approve any incremental updates to their iPhone XS, which is its new mid-tier phone, and made the $749 iPhone XR fairly attractive which a much lower price point than the rest of the recently released X family. This could lead to a high increase in iPhone XS sales.

The cameras of both the iPhone Xs and Xs Max have also received upgrades. Both will have a 12 megapixel wide camera and 12 megapixel telephoto camera and will contain Smart HDR a breakthrough technology.

There was also good news on battery life. The new iPhone Xs will have an 30 extra minutes of usage over the iPhone X, due to a bigger battery. The Xs Max will have an additional 1.5 hours of battery time over the previous iPhone X.

Apple is also branching out with new colors. They announced that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone XR, will come in a variety of different colors, include blue, coral, yellow and Product (red).

The new iPhone models will be available for pre-order on September 14th and will go on sale September 21st.

Some other Apple products were announced this past Wednesday, including the Apple Watch, which features new edge-to-edge designs, translating to more usable screen space. The company also spoke on its new custom chips, which will support everything from artificial intelligence to higher-end gaming. In a way, this turns the latest iPhones into AI-Phones.

Apple explained the health benefits of the new FDA-approved Watch, which includes the ability to automatically detect if a person falls. It also allows the user to take an electrocardiogram, which lets the user screen their heart rate for irregularities and test for atrial fibrillation.

The Apple Watch also has 18-hour all-day battery life will be available for pre-order on Sept. 14 and go on sale Sept. 21. It will cost $399 with GPS and $499 with cellular capability. Apple dropped the starting price of Apple Watch Series 3 to $279.
