ADOT To Make Acquiring Voluntary Travel I.D. Easier For Residents

Obtaining a Real I.D. driver’s license is going to become easier, according to Arizona officials familiar with the matter.

Arizona driver’s licenses will not be valid at airports and federal-building checkpoints starting Oct. 1, 2020.

Unless you have either a voluntary travel I.D. or another form of federally-accepted identification, like a passport, you will not be admitted into particular area listed above.

The voluntary travel I.D. costs $25 to purchase a voluntary travel I.D., and they’re valid for eight years.

Documentation such as a birth certificate and proof of current address are required to be issued the new I.D., and processing must be done in person. A spokesman for the Motor Vehicle Division, Doug Nick said it is easier now to find offices for this service.

“The voluntary travel I.D. is available at all MVD locations and 37 third-party offices that are full-service providers,” he said.

Visit the ADOT website to learn the hours and locations. There is a separated list of locations that provide Voluntary Travel ID.
