25-Story Condominium in Downtown Phoenix Draws Proposal for Updated Arts and Entertainment Center

At a recent meeting of Phoenix’s Downtown, Aviation, Economy and Innovation Subcommittee, there was a proposal from the Houston-based Hines company, which is a well-known international development company. This proposal is unsolicited from Phoenix but about a tie-in project Hines wants to add onto their current project that is a 25-story condominium building that is supposed to contain 375 condos.

The company proposes a new downtown district that will focus on a new cultural center around the area of Third and Van Buren Streets to the Talking Stick Convention Arena. Though not many details of the proposal are currently known, they would possibly involve space for loft apartments as well as area for offices.

“Our proposal responds to the vision of local leaders who have dreamed of enhancing the existing sports, cultural and entertainment vibrancy of downtown Phoenix,” Chris Anderson, managing director Hines in Arizona, said in a statement.

The few things that have been released as to what will be in the plans suggest that Hines is appealing to the desire of local officials to increase the cultural pull of downtown Phoenix. They do plan for there to be a Valley Youth theater space, as well as a Latino Cultural center. There would also be a plan to widen the current walkways to increase the paths for pedestrians.
